Our Programs at a Glance

SUMMER AND WINTER CAMPS
Together with staff from the MetroHealth Medical Center Burn Unit and local firefighters, Camp Phoenix gives children ages 5-17 the chance to meet other burn survivors and enjoy all the fun at camp.

YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS
Our young adult programs are geared toward young adults 18 and older who were burned as children. This program focuses on continuing education, counselor training, life skills, goal-setting, confidence and self-esteem.

FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION
Local firefighters give children hands-on training with the Fire Safety House, a trailer built to resemble a home. Children learn how to identify fire hazards and to develop a fire escape plan.
Camp Phoenix
Camp Phoenix is located in Strongsville, Ohio at Camp Cheerful. At Camp Phoenix, burn survivors and their families participate in a variety of recreational activities such as canoeing, horseback riding, hiking, and swimming. These activities encourage confidence, independence and create opportunities for lifelong friendships.

LEARN ABOUT FIRE SAFETY
Fire Safety House
ACBC and local fire departments partner with area school districts and other community organizations to teach Northeast Ohio schoolchildren how to prevent fires in their homes and how to respond if one breaks out.
This training is more than simply calling 911. Local firefighters provide important lessons on avoiding common household hazards, promoting kitchen safety and escaping a possible fire. Students learn in our mobile simulation lab, ACBC’s Fire Safety House, which safely replicates smoke-filled home environment.
Simply complete the form below to request ACBC’s Fire Safety House and its lifesaving program come to your school, community event or Safety Town.
